Rihanna whose full name reads Robby Rihanna Fenty is a popular Barbadian singer and songwriter.
Rihanna was born in Saint Michael, Barbados on February 20, 1988. She moved to the United States at the age of 16 to study recording. Much of his training took place under the wings of renowned record producer Evan Rogers.
Rihanna released her debut album “Music of the Sun” in 2005. The album went on to figure in Billboard’s top ten charts in the year. One of the singles from the album “Pon de Repaly” was even ranked number one by Billboard.
She released her second album “A Girl Like Me” in 2006. Like her first album, this album too went on to make it to Billboard’s top ten chart for the year. She also recorded two of her best known singles SOS and “Break it off” in the same year.
Rihanna released her third album “Good Girl Gone Bad” in 2007 that turned out to be another chartbuster in the US. Her album was nominated for nine grammy award and she won in one category. She has recently released an album entitled Loud in 2010. The album features hit singles such as; Only Girl (In the World)” and the US number one hit “What’s My Name.”
Rihanna has so far sold approximately 5,563,000 album units in the US. She is recipient of a number of prestigious awards including the 2007 World Music Awards for World’s Best-Selling Pop Female Artist and Female Entertainer of the Year. Rihanna is also an honorary cultural ambassador of Barbados.
